Nice example of an amp from the heyday of Crate! This one has survived the years nicely, and both looks good and sounds awesome. With a single 12AX7 in the preamp, you get some nice tube overdrive with a good amount of gain in the dirty channel, as well as some pleasing tube breakup in the clean channel when pushed up the volume. The factory Celestion sounds great, and certainly compliments the vibe of the amp.

It is in good shape cosmetically with only a bit of oxidation on the handle and screws. The knobs are replacements, and they fit well and work as they should. There is a bit of floor noise if you up the “high" control on the clean channel, but this has been the case for all of these that I’ve played. The gain channel really shines, and is nicely versatile with the “shape“ control. The build quality on these is really nice considering the price; American made with an actual spring reverb tank and Celestion? Not something you’ll find in the Sweetwater catalog these days!
