Truly an awesome find - this vintage Epiphone is one of the few with the proper headstock and inlay, and has a killer vintage appeal! Not only is this an awesome looker, it is an absolutely fantastic player.
While this era of Epiphone is not possible to date precisely using the serial, the sticker and details place it to approximately 1979-1981; being made by the famed Matsumoku. The overall quality and attention to detail is highly impressive; with gorgeous neck binding and nifty deco fretboard inlays - everything about this guitar exudes a sense of high energy vintage charm. The gold hardware has started to age, and fits with the overall aesthetic quite well. The neck pickup is smooth and fantastic for jazz, while the bridge pickup works well for gritty blues, and together have a wonderful sparkle. The 3 piece neck is a nice touch, and adds some stability. It appears to be all original down to the tuners, hardware, and electronics.
Cosmetically it is quite clean particularly given its age, and presents very nicely with only a bit of finish swirling from over the years and a few miscellaneous marks (namely at the top of the headstock). As above there is some aging to the gold hardware, and there is some finish checking around the neck heel and nut as is common, these are purely cosmetic and overall this one has stood the test of time very well. The neck set is good, and there is plenty of room to go up or down with the bridge to your liking.
It has been setup with round wound balanced tension D’Addario 10-46s yielding a nice and speedy string height of about .050” at the 12th fret with optimal relief. This one is an absolute pleasure to play, with a very comfortable neck carve.
