Classic vintage Martin mojo for days! This D12-20 dates to 1971 - and has received a 6 slot nut effectively converting the guitar to a slope shoulder 6 string. The slim and wide neck makes it very playable, and it makes both an excellent fingerpicking or flatpicking guitar. It sounds superb as an aged Martin should, with a full low end and clear, articulate highs.
It features a spruce top with mahogany back and sides, with a beautiful rosewood fretboard and rosette binding strip on the back. The bridge has been cleanly re-set at some point in its life, and the pickguard is non original. The tuners appear to have been replaced as well, as the original white button tuners tend to age poorly. There is a repaired crack on the back, again looking professional and posing no structural or playability issues.
It has been cleaned and restrung with D’Addario phosphor bronze 10-47s, as well as the fretboard cleaned and oiled. It plays nicely with medium action up the neck - a good height for bluesgrass and other flatpicking. The frets are in nice shape showing only minimal wear.
Don’t miss this classic! I don’t believe that Martin supplied cases in the 60s and early 70s; rather this was left to the dealer, however it includes the “original” yellow interior hard shell case that has been with it throughout its life.
